October 15, 2024 | Football
Johnathan Abram, Willie Gay Jr. and J.T. Gray had quite the day for New Orleans on Sunday.
The three former Mississippi State standouts combined for 16 tackles, one for loss, one sack, three pass defenses, one interception, one quarterback hurry and a forced fumble for the Saints.
Gay was responsible four stops, a tackle behind the line of scrimmage, one sack, two pass defenses and a quarterback hurry. The Starkville native posted the highest pressure grade on the team according to Pro Football Focus (PFF) and one of his pass deflections allowed an interception by Abram.
Along with his pick, Abram also accounted for seven tackles and a pass defense after being upgraded from the practice squad for the second-straight game. Gray tallied five total tackles between defense and special teams while also forcing a fumble.
Charles Cross continues to have a stellar year as Seattle's left tackle. The former first-round pick played all 78 snaps for the Seahawks offensively and earned the top offensive (82.7) and run-blocking grades (79.0) on the team while also earning the No. 1 pass-blocking grade by a Seattle O-lineman at 82.2.
Cross' offensive grade in Week 6 was the fourth-best by an offensive tackle in the NFL. This season, the Laurel product is second among offensive tackles in the league with a 90.1 run-blocking grade, which is also the sixth-best mark by any offensive lineman. His 86.2 offensive grade also ranks sixth at his position.
Left guard Elgton Jenkins also logged all 73 offensive reps in Green Bay's 34-13 win over Arizona this past week. Jenkins' pass-blocking grade (83.1) this season ranks third among all offensive guards in the NFL and is the highest of any player on the Packers.
Former teammates and first-round picks Jeffery Simmons and Montez Sweat also made plays in the backfield for their respective teams. Simmons made three stops and a tackle for loss for Tennessee while Sweat contributed two tackles, a half-sack and a quarterback hurry for Chicago.
Simmons received the highest pressure grade and second-best defensive and run defense grades for the Titans during Week 6 and owns the No. 1 run defense grade on the team this year.
Sweat earned the second-highest defensive grade (81.5) for the Bears this past week and the No. 3 pressure grade. He also ranks fifth-best on the team in tackling this season.
Dak Prescott completed 17 of 33 passes for 178 yards for Dallas and now ranks third in the NFL with 1,602 passing yards.
Rookie cornerback Decamerion Richardson made his NFL debut for Las Vegas this past weekend while defensive tackle Cameron Young suited up for the first time this season for Seattle after being activated from the physically unable to perform list.
