STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women's basketball hosts the defending national champions No. 9/9 LSU for a nationally-televised matchup inside Humphrey Coliseum on Monday at 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN2.Â

LSU leads the series 50-15 overall and 20-8 in Starkville. Mississippi State has won nine of the last 12 meetings and three of the last five at home. LSU enters the contest 18-3 overall and 5-2 in the SEC.

Behind double-doubles from both graduate student center Jessika Carter and senior guard Jerkaila Jordan, Mississippi State came home with an 89-77 win at Florida in its last contest on Jan. 22.Â

Carter is currently averaging career-best marks in points, rebounds and minutes with 15.1 points and 9.9 rebounds in 30.4 minutes per game. She has been on another level as of late, averaging 19.3 points on 60.0 percent from the field and 11.3 rebounds over the last four contests compared to 7.0 points and 9.0 rebounds on 33.3 percent from the field over the first two of the SEC schedule.Â

Jordan leads the team with a career-best 17.1 points per game, in addition to posting a career-best 6.3 rebounds per game. Jordan has scored 20-plus points in eight games this season and three of six conference contests.Â

Graduate student guard Lauren Park-Lane leads the SEC and ranks third nationally with 129 total assists this season. She is one of just three players in the country to rank inside the top eight for total assists each of the last two seasons. Park-Lane has led the team in assists in all six SEC contests and in 19 of 21 overall. Her current 6.1 assists per game would be the second-best single-season mark in program history.

Mississippi State returns to action following its first bye week of the conference schedule. The Bulldogs are 2-0 this season and 7-0 overall when it plays after a seven-day or longer break under head coach Sam Purcell.Â
Known for being one of the conference's best from behind the arc, sophomore guard Debreasha Powe is connecting on a career-best 41.2 percent on 47-114 from three this season, an 11.0 percent increase from her freshman season. Her 47 three pointers are second in the SEC and her 41.2 percent is fourth.
Mississippi State is one of the top teams nationally at defending without fouling and ranks fourth with only 12.5 fouls per game.
Monday will be the first of three contests this week for Mississippi State before it travels to face Kentucky inside Rupp Arena on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 6:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network.Â
