Diamond Dawgs in College Baseball Summer Leagues

STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State baseball program sent a handful of student-athletes to play summer baseball in various leagues around the east coast.

A total of 11 Diamond Dawgs will spread out around the east coast as they compete in six different summer leagues, including two, Hunter Hines and Ross Highfill, playing in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.

Freshman Dakota Jordan is heading to participate in the New England Collegiate Baseball League and attending training camp for USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, vying for a spot on the 2023 Collegiate National Team.

Aaron Downs, Will Gibbs, and David Mershon are joining Jordan in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Jordan, Downs, and Gibbs will play with the Newport Gulls, while Mershon will play with the Ocean State Waves.

The Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League will serve as the home for freshman Evan Siary.

Sophomore Nate Chester is slated to suit up for the Danville Dans of the Prospect League and former Mississippi State baseball head coach/Dans assistant coach Ron Polk this summer.

Junior Connor Hujsak will play for the Sanford River Rats of the Florida Collegiate Summer League.

Finally, the Valley League will host the final two Diamonds Dawgs in summer ball as freshman Logan Forsythe and Hollis Porter will play for the Charlotteville TomSox.
