A House For Mom

Bulldog and current Seattle Seahawk Cameron Young surprises mother with new home.
STARKVILLE – Tremel Bates-Young, the mother of former Mississippi State defensive lineman Cameron Young, was standing in the kitchen of a beautiful new house in a video posted by Cameron to Twitter on Sunday. It was obvious by what happened next that Tremel was unaware of what was about to occur.
"I'm glad you like it, because it's yours," Cameron told his mom in a moment the Young family will all remember forever.
Cameron had visions of providing for his family long before he ever had realistic dreams of playing in the NFL. Now, after realizing his pro football ambitions when the Seahawks picked him in the fourth round of the NFL Draft back in April, Cameron has accomplished both his missions with his recent purchase.
He's gone from State to Sundays. He's given his mom a gorgeous new place to live. Tremel, meanwhile, simply remains at a loss for words because of her boy's loving actions.
"I'm still in shock," Tremel said. "I can't believe he did it."
I had dreams and ambitions of taking care of my family long before I had NFL dreams. I've visioned this moment a hundred times since getting drafted. As a kid I didn't know how I was going to do it or how long it would take, but I did it🏡🔑 Congratulations Ma on your new home💙 pic.twitter.com/aNrFYELVkq

Cameron had been telling his mom to be looking for a house for about the past month. However, every house she found that she liked was quickly off the market.
"[Cameron] said, 'I really don't think you're looking for a house," Tremel shared. "I said, 'I am, but every time I look at one, it's gone!"
Well, Cameron solved that problem. On Sunday, he sent a text to the family's group chat sharing he'd made an afternoon appointment to go look at a house. After church, the family arrived at the home, along with a realtor who Tremel said put on an outstanding acting job.
"She played it off like she'd never met Cameron in her life," Tremel said.
Tremel loved the house. She especially adored the master bedroom and master bathroom.
"I was like, 'This is absolutely beautiful,'" she said.
Soon after was when Cameron revealed to Tremel that the bedroom, bathroom and every room was now hers. Maybe the biggest surprise of all to Tremel though was that Cameron was able to pull off this entire transaction with her having no knowledge of it being in the process.
"Everything Cameron does he takes and brings to me," Tremel said. "So I was like, 'How did you do this without me knowing it?'
"He called me [later] and said, 'Mom, there were so many times [they were] asking me for all this stuff and I was [thinking how] my mama does all this. But I couldn't call you because I wanted to surprise you and it was worth it.'"
So, even 300-plus pound NFL defensive linemen can be sneaky when they need to be.
Tremel says Cameron has always been the kind of guy who, when he puts his mind to something, he accomplishes it. Well, chalk up another win for the beloved Bulldog who wouldn't be denied in his quest to provide for those he loves.
"With the house, I was laid back, taking my time thinking maybe he'd pull off on it because I didn't want him spending all his money on me," Tremel said. "But, he was determined. Once he was determined, he was like, 'Whether you like it or not, you're going to stay in it because I got it. That's it.'
"He is so selfless…It's just a joy to be his mom. We are truly blessed to have Cameron as our child."
