Lopez Ramirez, Levi Lead Bulldogs to the Top of the Leaderboard at the Westfield Regional

Westfield, Ind. – Mississippi State women's golf completed the second round of the NCAA Westfield Regional on Tuesday. After the first 36 holes of play, the Bulldogs sit alone at the top of the leaderboard (21-Under Par, 555) and eight strokes ahead of Oregon State (13-Under Par, 563).
The Bulldogs used a strong performance from the entire lineup to build a lead in the second round of play from The Club at Chatham Hills. Before teeing off in round two, the Bulldogs sat one stroke back in second place for third before propelling up to first and building a lead behind one of the best encores in program history. The Bulldogs carded 13-Under (275) in the second round. 13-Under Par is tied for the second-lowest second round in program history with 21-Under Par being the second-lowest team score after 36 holes in program history.
The dynamic duo of sophomore Julia Lopez Ramirez and Hannah Levi continued right where they left off in round one to lead the way for State.
Lopez Ramirez continues to rewrite the record book in her sophomore year, carding consecutive rounds in the 60s to open up regional play to break the program record for rounds in the 60s in a career (25) and surpass Bulldog great Ally McDonald Ewing. Lopez Ramirez sunk six birdies in the second round to card a 6-Under, 66 to build her individual lead (11-Under Par, 133). 6-Under Par is the third lowest individual second round in program history with 11-Under Par being the third lowest score after 36 holes individually.
Senior Hannah Levi matched Lopez Ramirez on Tuesday, carding 6-Under Par (66) to move into second place with 10-Under Par (134). Levi rolled in seven birdies throughout the day, including two straight on holes 17 and 18 to secure her 10th career round in the 60s. Levi is currently one stroke back of Lopez Ramirez for the lead.
Freshman Izzy Pellot picked up her second consecutive round of par or better golf on Tuesday, rolling in two birdies on the day to card a 1-Under Par (71). Pellot secured her 15th round of par or better golf this season to lower her score to 2-Under Par (142) and is tied for 13th.
Freshman Surapa Janthamunee and senior Abbey Daniel round out the scorecard for the Bulldogs in Round Two. SJ finished tied for 46th (6-Over) while Daniel finished tied for 57th (9-Over).
The Bulldogs will be paired with Oregon State and fellow SEC foe Vanderbilt for Wednesday's final round. State will start off from the first tee from 8:06-8:50 AM CT.

The Westfield Regional is hosted by Indiana and the Indiana Sports Corp. Conference. The Bulldogs will be joined by some of the most talented programs in the country this week. Joining Mississippi State in the Westfield Regional will be Oregon, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Virginia, Tulsa, Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon State, Xavier, Lipscomb and Morehead State.
Regional play will take place May 8-10 at six regional sites, with a total of 396 student-athletes competing. All six regional sites will have 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site, 156 student-athletes total, will advance to play in the national championships to be played May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Championship play will be hosted by Arizona State and The Thunderbirds, with the final three days of the championships televised live by the GOLF Channel.
