JP France Called Up To MLB

France promoted to the Houston Astros
STARKVILLE – After posting a 2.33 earned run average in 19.1 innings at Triple-A this season, former Mississippi State baseball player JP France received the call to the Majors, the Houston Astros announced on Saturday (May 6).
France is the 67th Diamond Dawg player to reach MLB and the first to be called up to make his major league debut since May 30th, 2022, when the Milwaukee Brewers called up Ethan Small. France is the first Bulldog to get called up for his Major League debut this season.
France joined the team in Seattle for the series against the Seattle Mariners. He is set to become the 14th Diamond Dawg to make his first MLB appearance since 2016.
The Lulling, Louisiana, native finished his career with the Diamond Dawgs in 2018. In his lone season in Starkville, he made 25 appearances for the Dawgs while making two starts. He posted a 3.77 earned run average and had a record of 5-5. He pitched 59.2 innings on the season, tallied 65 strikeouts and had two saves.
During the 2018 NCAA Regional, France earned NCAA Regional All-Tournament honors following the Tallahassee Regional. In the regional final win, France made his second start of the season and allowed two hits and one run over seven innings of work while striking out five.
France was selected in the 14th round by the Houston Astros in the 2018 MLB Draft, joining a seven-member draft class from 2018.
Houston will face the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, beginning at 8:40 p.m. CT in a game that will see France make his MLB debut. He is scheduled to make the start for the Astros.
