Hunter Hines Named Semifinalist For The Dick Howser Trophy

The Dick Howser Trophy is presented to the top collegiate baseball player
DALLAS – Mississippi State's Hunter Hines was selected as a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, which is presented annually to the top player in college baseball.
Finalists for the Dick Howser Trophy will be named on June 8 and the winner announced on MLB Network at 9 a.m. CT on June 15. The trophy will be presented the following day during the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Over his sophomore season at MSU, Hines has shined for the Diamond Dawgs. Over State's 51 games this season, the Madison, Mississippi native is hitting .302 and leads the team in home runs (22) and RBIs (61). He is the first player at MSU to hit 20 or more homers in a single season since Brent Rooker belted 23 during the 2017 season.
Hines' 22 home runs rank third in the nation, second in the Southeastern Conference and tied for the sixth-most in school history. His 61 runs batted in are the sixth most in the SEC. He has 17 multi-hit games this season, the most on the team. Hines also leads the team with a .693 slugging percentage and 60 hits.

In his two years wearing the Maroon and White, Hines has hit 38 home runs, the 10th most in a career at Mississippi State, while posting a .301 batting average. He has driven in 113 runs in 106 games for the Dawgs.
In addition to being named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, Hines was also tabbed a finalist for the Ferris Trophy. The Ferris Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding college baseball player in Mississippi.
