Baseball Drops Opener to No. 2 LSU

Game two set for 6 p.m. start on Saturday
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs dropped the first game in Baton Rouge against the second-ranked LSU Tigers, by a score of 12-1.
The Bulldogs' lone run of the contest came off the bat of Ross Highfill. His solo home run in the sixth inning was the fifth home run LSU pitcher Paul Skenes has given up the entire year. Kellum Clark and Luke Hancock each picked up a single on the day.
Brock Tapper entered in relief in the third and held the Tigers scoreless through three innings, which was his second-longest appearance of the season.
The Bulldogs look to even the series tomorrow at 6 p.m. The game is set to be broadcast on SECN+.
Gavin Dugas led off the bottom half of the first with a solo homer.

Brayden Jobert hit a two-run shot to right. Jordan Thompson followed Jobert up with a solo homer. Dugas came across to score on a Morgan sacrifice fly.
