Bulldogs Close Out Day One of the Maroon & White Invite With Six First-Place Finishes

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State track and field team opened the 2023 Maroon and White Invite on Friday, April 28. The Bulldogs had a strong opening day performance with six first-place finishes and 24 top five finishes.

Navasky Anderson made his 2023 outdoor debut in the 800m on Friday, finishing first and earning a time of 1:47.40. Anderson's time ranks 18^th in the NCAA this season and is an NCAA qualifying time.

Cameron Crump won the men's long jump on Friday with a jump of 7.90m (25'11"). Crumps jump ranks 14^th in the NCAA this season. Crump already owns the third best mark in the NCAA (8.04m) that he set during the Bulldog Relays earlier this season. Crump also earned a top 20 mark in the NCAA in the 200m with a time of 20.40. The mark ranks 19^th in the NCAA and was also a personal best in the event.

In the 200m, Kamaya Debose-Epps posted a time of 23.04 to win the event. Her time ranks second all-time at Mississippi State behind 3-time Olympian Falilatu Ogunkoya.

Zoe Brito-Babapulle won the 800m elite division race with a time of 2:05.66, which was a personal best for redshirt sophomore from Australia. Ramat Jimoh won the 1500m race with a time of 4:30.68.

The Pole Vault will open day two of the Maroon and White Invite on Saturday at 11 a.m. The running events will get started with the women's 4x100m relay starting at 1:15 p.m.
