Bulldogs Drop Pitching Duel to Rebels

Bulldog arms combine for 10 strikeouts on the night
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State dropped game one to the Ole Miss Rebels by a score of 3-2. The Bulldogs' two runs came via the long ball.
Cade Smith drew the start for the Bulldogs. He went four complete, striking out four batters and allowing one earned run. Colby Holcombe was the first out of the pen, as he worked three innings and picked up three strikeouts. KC Hunt finished the game on the mound, striking out three in two innings of work.
Dakota Jordan hit the first home run in the fifth inning to tie the game at one for the Bulldogs. Hunter Hines hit his solo shot in the ninth as the Dawgs attempted to rally. Amani Larry also had an extra-base hit on the day, a double in the sixth.
The Bulldogs look to even the series against the Rebels on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
Jacob Gonzalez hit a solo homer to give the Rebels their first lead of the game.
