Bulldogs To Open NCAA Indoor Championships On Friday

The national meet will take place Friday and Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Four Bulldogs will represent the Mississippi State track and field program at the 2023 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships beginning on Friday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

MSU will be represented by Cameron Crump in the men's long jump, Rosealee Cooper in the women's 60m hurdles, Navasky Anderson in the men's 800m run and Tony Jones in the men's high jump. All four MSU student-athletes competing in their respective events enter the meet with a top-10 national mark.

The two-day national meet will take place Friday (March 10) and Saturday (March 11) at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Navasky Anderson | Men's 800m Run
Anderson qualified for nationals after running the fastest 800m ever by a Jamaican-born athlete at the Music City Challenge on his way to a first-place finish with a time of 1:46.58. Anderson's time ranks No. 5 in the country and second in the SEC. The semifinal round for the 800m run will take place Friday night, March 10, with the finals being held on Saturday, March 11.

Rosealee Cooper | Women's 60m Hurdles
Cooper is making her second straight appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships and will represent Mississippi State in the women's 60m hurdles. Cooper's time of 8.07 is currently the ninth best time in the nation. The semifinal round for the 60m hurdles will take place Friday evening, March 10, with the finals being held on Saturday, March 11.

Cameron Crump | Men's Long Jump | Friday, March 10 – 8:00 p.m. CT
Crump enters the meet as the nation's leader in the long jump and is fresh off being named the 2023 SEC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. Crump earned first team All-SEC accolades after claiming the gold medal while setting a new SEC Championships and school record in the men's long jump with a mark 8.39m (27-6.50). His mark also made him the national leader in the men's long jump and currently ranks No. 2 worldwide. It also ties him for the fifth-longest jump in NCAA history.

Tony Jones | Men's High Jump | Saturday, March 11 – 2:00 p.m. CT
Jones earned second team All-SEC accolades after claiming bronze in the high jump at the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships. He enters the national meet ranked No. 9 in the country in the high jump with his mark of 2.21m (7-3) that helped him claim third place at the SEC Championships in Fayetteville.
