MSU to Open Outdoor Season at Hurricane Invitational

The Bulldogs will compete in the Miami Hurricane Invitational on March 17-18 in Coral Gables
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State track and field program is set to open the 2023 outdoor season as the Bulldogs compete in the Miami Hurricane Invitational on March 17-18 in Coral Gables, Florida.

The two-day meet will be held at Cobb Stadium on the University of Miami's campus. The meet begins on Friday, March 17, and continues with the second and final day of competition on Saturday, March 18.

The Hurricane Invitational is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT on Friday with field events throughout the afternoon, while the women's 3,000m run will kick off the running events at 5 p.m. CT later that day. The bulk of the events will be held on Saturday, beginning with the javelin competition starting at 10 a.m. CT, while the running events will start at noon CT on Saturday. Â

Mississippi State's men finished tied for No. 19 in the country at the NCAA Indoor Championships, which is the highest finish for the Bulldogs since placing 12th following the 2014 indoor season.

On day one of the NCAA Championships, Mississippi State senior Cameron Crump finished as the national runner-up in the men's long jump, while also claiming eight team points for the Bulldogs. Crump tied his personal best and his own school record with a mark of 8.39m (27-6.50), which ranks No. 3 worldwide in the long jump.

Tony Jones also represented Mississippi State in the men's high jump at NCAA Indoors where he finished the competition on the podium with a sixth-place mark of 2.18m (7-1.75). With that showing, Jones secured three points for the Bulldogs for a team total of 11 points.

Navasky Anderson and Rosealee Cooper also represented Mississippi State on the track last weekend in the men's 800m run and the women's 60m hurdles, respectively.
