Bryce Chance Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week

Chance takes home SEC honors after hitting .583 on the week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State's Bryce Chance was named Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

Chance, a redshirt freshman, led the Dawgs at the plate opening weekend. Chance went 7-of-12 for a team-high .583 batting average in helping the Diamond Dawgs to a series win over VMI.

In his first collegiate start, Chance went 3-for-5 on the day with three RBIs. In the sixth inning, Chance tallied his first collegiate home run, a two-run blast to right center.

In game two of the series, Chance had another strong day at the plate. He picked up a career-high four RBIs in the game. Against the Keydets, He had three RBI singles and a bases-loaded walk.

He finished the weekend with seven hits, including a home run and a double, to go along with seven RBI, four runs scored, and a pair of walks.

The Dawgs return to action on Tuesday when they open a two-game midweek series against ULM. The first pitch for Tuesday is set for 4 p.m. from Dudy Noble Field.
