Taylor James Represents MSU Soccer At Annual SEC SAAC Meeting

James recently made the trip to Birmingham as one of 27 members of the SEC Student-Athlete Advisory Council
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State redshirt sophomore Taylor James recently made the trip to Birmingham as one of 27 members of the Southeastern Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) who gathered for the league's annual meeting on Feb. 10-11 at the SEC offices.

The meeting served as an opportunity for SEC student-athletes to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff. Along with Student-Athlete Leadership Councils for football and men's and women's basketball, SAAC provides a conduit of communication to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness and playing rules.

James, a native of Spring, Texas, was recently rewarded for her performance in the classroom after being named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll for the third straight season.

On the field, James was part of a 2022 squad that put together the most historic season to date after Mississippi State tallied 12 wins last season for only the third time in program history while also securing an NCAA Tournament berth.

Agenda items for the SEC SAAC meeting included a leadership development presentation by Jason Martinez of Game of Nation, a conversation and dinner with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, a review of NCAA and SEC legislative items, and an open discussion on SAAC campus programming.

The group also had the opportunity for a conversation with SEC Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Katie O'Neal, while current SEC SAAC member and NCAA Division I SAAC Chair Brynn Carlson provided an update from the national Council.
