State Drops To No. 8 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Mississippi State volleyball team fell in straight sets to No. 8 Arkansas on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs move to 11-12Â on the year and 4-9Â in SEC play, while Arkansas improves to 21-4 overall and 11-2 in league contest.Â
The Razorbacks took the first set in a tightly-contested 26-24 win in the first set, followed by a 25-12 win to take the 2-0 match led. Arkansas closed out the match with a 25-22 victory in the final frame.
Amina Shackelford led the offensive attach for MSU, finishing with 11 kills while providing five digs and four blocks. Karli Schmidt followed with eight kills, three digs and a block. Â
Rebecca Walk tallied six kills on a .417 hitting clip, while adding a team-leading six blocks. Sophie Agee came away with five kills and a dig. Avery Fitzgerald collected two kills, two digs and a block.
State's setter Emily Oerther dished out a season-high 30 assists and added 10 digs for her fourth double-double on the season.
Defensivley, libero Lauren Myrick sprawled out for 15 digs in the three -setter, while defensive specialist Mary Neal issued seven digs of her own.
Mississippi State is back at home on Wednesday, Nov. 8 to take on South Carolina. First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT and will be aired nationally on SEC Network.
