
Mississippi State Wraps Up Homestand With New Orleans On Wednesday

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball closes out a four-game homestand on Wednesday, Nov. 15 when the Bulldogs host New Orleans inside Humphrey Coliseum at 11 a.m. CT on SEC Network+.

Wednesday marks the 18th series meeting between Mississippi State and New Orleans. Mississippi State leads the series 14-3 overall and 6-0 at home. The two program last met in a 106-51 home win for Mississippi State on Dec. 2, 2020.

New Orleans enters the contest with an 0-2 record after it fell to Tulsa 86-61 on Friday. Wednesday will be the third-straight road game for the Privateers to open their schedule. Graduate student guard DeArcia Pyror leads the team with 20.0 points, in addition to 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

Mississippi State is on a quick turnaround after an 84-45 win over Jacksonville State on Sunday. The Bulldogs went on a 16-0 run immediately out of the halftime break to outscore their visitors 30-13 in the third quarter and secure its commanding margin of victory. Mississippi State is now outscoring their opponents 73-32 in the third quarter this season.

The Bulldogs' defense continues to shine through the initial portion of the season. Mississippi State has forced 15 or more turnovers in all three games to start the season and currently leads the SEC in field-goal percentage defense (30.4), three-point percentage defense (22.7) and scoring defense (44.3).

Mississippi State's bench added 25 points in the effort for the third-straight game with at least 20 points from the unit. The Bulldogs benefited from five players in double figures last time out, while all 10 players scored and played 10-plus minutes.
