Bulldogs Drop Three-Set Decision To Texas A&M

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State volleyball team fell to Texas A&M in straight sets on Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies took the first set 25-19, followed by a tightly contested 25-21 win in the second to take the 2-0 match led. Texas A&M closed out the match with a 25-19 victory in the final frame.
Rebecca Walk led the offensive attack for MSU on the afternoon, finishing with eight kills on a .545 hitting percentage, and provided three blocks. Karli Schmidt followed with seven kills and a block.
Sophie Agee and Amina Shackelford each recorded six kills and two blocks. Agee also added nine digs on the afternoon. Caylee Sharkey tallied five kills, whereas Sanaa Williams came away with four kills on .300 clip and three blocks.
Setter Emily Oerther dished out 16 assists in the three-setter, while freshman Erin Kline collected a season-best 11 assists, three digs and two aces. Alexa Fortin Goede added four assists and three digs of her own.
Lauren Myrick sprawled out for 11 digs while adding two assists and an ace. Mary Neal issued six digs of her own.
The Bulldogs move to 8-8 on the year and 1-5 in SEC play, while Texas A&M improves to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in league contests.
Mississippi State is back in action on Friday, Sept. 13, when they take on No. 9 Florida inside the Newell-Grissom Building. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
