Bulldog Trio Named To Coaches Preseason All-SEC Teams

STARKVILLE – On Tuesday, a trio of Bulldogs were named to the 2024 Coaches Preseason All-SEC teams. Jessika Carter was named to the first team, while Jerkaila Jordan and Erynn Barnum earned second team honors.

Carter, a native of Waverly Hall, Ga., earns her spot on the first team after a career year last season where she set new career highs in points per game (14.8), blocked shots (65) and assists (42). She also led the team in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage. To go along with her career numbers, Carter also earned 240 rebounds with 19 steals. Carter has scored 1,273 career points in her career and grabbed 804 career rounds. She has also blocked 184 career shots, dished out 78 assists and earned 55 steals.

Jordan, a native of New Orleans, enters her senior season as one of the best guards in the country. Last season, Jordan scored 393 points (11.9 ppg), grabbed 170 rebounds (5.2 rpg), dished out 64 assists (1.9 apg), earned 72 steals (2.2 spg) and blocked 23 shots (0.7 bpg). She led the team in steals and made triples while finishing second in blocked shots, rebounding average and 3-point percentage (40%). In her career, she has scored 1,238 points (13.91 ppg) and grabbed 438 rebounds (4.9 rpg) with 190 career steals, 65 blocked shots and 163 assists.

Barnum, a native of Little Rock, Ark., had a breakout senior season last year, earning Second Team All-SEC honors. She set career-best marks in scoring (15.0), rebounding (6.5), assists (66), blocked shots (38) and steals (47). She scored in double figures 28 times with nine 20-point games, three 10+ rebound contests and two double-doubles. She scored a career-high 37 points against Ole Miss (1/29/23) off 13 field goals, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. In her career, she has scored 1,072 points (9.4 ppg) and grabbed 579 rebounds (6.5 rpg) with 103 career steals, 101 blocked shots and 100 assists and she comes to Starkville with a career field goal percentage of 53%.
