State Welcomes No. 14 Florida To Newell-Grissom

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State volleyball host No. 14 Florida inside the Newell-Grissom Building on Friday for its second ranked match-up of the 2023 season.
First serve is slated for 6 p.m. CT, streamed live courtesy of SEC Network+ and available online through the Watch ESPN app.
"We have had a good week of practice and preparation this week and are excited to welcome Florida to StarkVegas," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "Every single match is an opportunity for us to get a little bit better, and to work a little bit harder. I know this team is fully bought in and committed to moving forward together as a group. I am excited for us to have a chance to compete at home and we look forward to seeing our family on Friday night! Hail State!"
Admission is free for all home volleyball matches with doors opening one hour prior to first serve. Kids can Trick or Treat before the match and fans are encouraged to wear black.
Libero Lauren Myrick has tallied 10-plus digs in 14 appearances, spearheaded by 20-plus digs in five of those outings. Her 4.50 digs per set rank second in the SEC standings.
Defensive Specialist Mary Neal has recorded 2.10 digs per set during her freshman season.
State's setting duo of Alexa Fortin Goede and Emily Oerther have teamed up to dish out 8.94 assists per set and combined for six double-doubles.
Freshman setter Erin Kline has garnered 3.20 assists per set and saw a season-high 11 assists in last weekends match against Texas A&M (10/08).
Outside hitters, Sophie Agee and Karli Schmidt have complied 17 matches of double-digit kills for the season. Agee has piled up a trio of double-doubles and amassed 10-plus kills in seven matches. For the year, Agee has earned 2.47 kills per set. Schmidt has collected 10 or more kills in 10 of her appearances and has cranked 3.11 kills per set.
Amina Shackelford has been lights out at the net by leading the team with 52 blocks and tallying 105 kills.
Middle blocker Rebecca Walk has earned 1.76 kill per set on a .421 clip which ranks first on the hitting percentage SEC leaderboard. Walk also ranks 10th in the SEC with her 1.07 blocks per set.
Sanaa Williams has totaled 1.00 blocks per set, while right side Caylee Sharkey has registered 1.12 kills per set.
