
Armstrong Adds Duo to 2022 Signing Class

STARKVILLE – Two new faces have joined the Mississippi State soccer program, just in time for the start of the preseason. The goal-scoring duo arrives in Starkville after making previous stops in the Southeastern Conference, as well as Conference USA.
"I'm really excited to add these two dynamic and powerful forwards to our existing front line," head coach James Armstrong said.
Prior to her collegiate career, Ngongo played for the Portage Trail soccer club and Bonivital soccer club while competing at the Manitoba Summer Games, Western Canada Games and the Canada Games. She was also named Player of the Year during her time with Portage Trail.
Prior to college, the new Bulldog made her presence felt at IMG Academy, scoring 26 goals for the U-19 squad which won the first-ever Girls Academy Southeast Conference title in 2021. During her 2019-20 season, Thompson finished second in the nation with 39 goals scored. The forward also received multiple Development Academy Standout accolades and was also named to the 2021 IMG Academy Top 100 list. As a seventh grader, Thompson netted 29 goals for the West Lauderdale High School team and aided the squad to the 2016 4A Mississippi High School Activities Association state title.

Jojo Ngongo | UTEP
Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the fifth-year transfer scored a total of 12 goals as a Miner, six of which were game-winners. As a sophomore in 2019, Ngongo helped propel UTEP to its first road win over Marshall in 11 years, netting the winning goal. That same season, the Canadian finished second on the team in assists (5), third in goals scored (4) and tied for second in points (13). Her freshman year, she was named to the 2018 C-USA All-Freshman Team.Prior to her collegiate career, Ngongo played for the Portage Trail soccer club and Bonivital soccer club while competing at the Manitoba Summer Games, Western Canada Games and the Canada Games. Riley Thompson | Florida
The Meridian, Miss., native played one season with the Florida Gators, appearing in 19 matches. During her freshman campaign, Thompson scored her first collegiate goal at Georgia. Season-Opening Countdown
Mississippi State will kick off the 2022 campaign at home, Aug. 11 and Aug.14, in two home exhibition matches against Samford and Southeastern Louisiana, respectively. The Bulldogs' regular season will open in South Beach, Aug. 18, against the University of Miami (FL).Keeping Up With MSU Soccer
