Women’s Golf Set to Compete in NCAA Regional Play for the 11th Time Monday

Tallahassee, Fla. – For the 11th time in program history, the Mississippi State women's golf program earned a spot in the NCAA Championships. The Bulldogs will open play as the sixth seed in the Tallahassee Regional Monday, with play scheduled to run May 9-11 from the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
The regional features a talented field that includes nine of the 12 teams in attendance being ranked in the Top 50 in this week's Golfstat's Top 50 NCAA Team Rankings. The No. 34 Bulldogs will be joined by No. 3 South Carolina, No. 10 UCLA, No. 16 Florida State, No. 22 Ole Miss, No. 26 Illinois, No. 39 Miami (Fla.), No. 46 Denver and No. 49 North Florida. Rounding out the field is the 10-seed College of Charleston, 11th-seed Georgia Southern and 12th-seeded Quinnipiac.
The top four teams at the conclusion of stroke play on Wednesday will advance onto the NCAA Women's Golf National Championships at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottdale, Ariz. The top two individuals from non-advancing teams will also advance.
For State, Blair Stockett will lead off and shoot first. Last time out, Stockett added an 11th Top-20 performance finishing tied for 18th in the 2022 SEC Championship. Stockett sunk the third most pars in the event with 40.
Ashley Gilliam is second in the lineup. This season Gilliam has secured five par or better rounds including a 74.4 average. Gilliam secured a top-10 finish in the Westbrook Invitational to help MSU secure the team victory in the event.
Ana Pina Ortega will shoot third. Pina Ortega secured the best finish of her career in the Auburn Individual in her last performance finishing tied for fifth.
Hannah Levi will shoot fourth in the lineup. Throughout her junior campaign, Levi carded 12 rounds of par or better including a tied for 4th finish in the Vystar Gators Invitational.
Rounding out the lineup for the Bulldogs is Julia Lopez Ramirez. Lopez Ramirez has used her freshman season to blaze into the SEC Golf world. Throughout the season, Lopez Ramirez led the SEC in weekly honors winning SEC Golfer of the Week and SEC Freshman of the Week twice respectfully. Lopez Ramirez led all freshmen in wins and stroke average throughout the season as well.
The Bulldogs will be paired with fourth-seeded Ole Miss and fifth-seeded Illinois in the first round. The second and third rounds will be paired by results. All three rounds are set to begin at 8:00 AM ET.
