April 14, 2022 | Women's Basketball
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball head coach Sam Purcell announced the addition of Ramani Parker to his Bulldog squad as part of the 2022 signing class.
Parker is transferring to Mississippi State after spending the previous three seasons at Louisville. She will have three years of eligibility remaining due to redshirting as a freshman during the 2019-20 season and the additional covid year granted to student-athletes for the 2020-21 season.

Get To Know Ramani
Ramani Parker comes to Mississippi State following three seasons at the University of Louisville. While with the Cardinals, Parker appeared in 31 games, including the 2022 Final Four contest against South Carolina. After redshirting during the 2019-20 season, she made her collegiate debut on Nov. 25, 2020, against Southeast Missouri. As a Cardinal, Parker saw limited action on a roster full of professional talent, playing behind All-ACC performer and the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, Emily Engstler, along with Liz Dixon and Olivia Cochran.
The 6-foot-4 forward hails from Fresno, Calif., where she starred at Central High School before transferring to famed Montverde Academy in Florida for her senior season. Parker worked hard to become a four-star recruit and the 99th ranked player in the class of 2019 by espnW HoopGurlz. She was also ranked as the No. 14 forward by espnW. Parker averaged 15.0 points and eight rebounds per game during her senior campaign. She originally chose Louisville over South Carolina, Baylor, Michigan, Notre Dame and others.
Parker was born on June 6, 2001, and is the daughter of Ralph and Shavon Parker. She has four brothers and was majoring in neuroscience/psychology at Louisville.
Purcell on Parker
"I have had the chance to get to know Ramani since she was in high school," Purcell said. "I had the pleasure of helping recruit her to Louisville and then watched her put in the work to become a very skilled basketball player. At Louisville, she learned from some of the best minds in the game and learned what it meant to be a part of a championship-level program and the effort it takes to become a champion. Ramani sat behind some special players that have gone on to play in the WNBA, and there is no doubt in my mind that she is ready for her opportunity to show off her skill set. Ramani has the size, skill and winning mentality that I am looking for here at Mississippi State. I've recruited many special players in my career, and Ramani is one of those special players, and I'm excited for her to get to Starkville and show the world what she can do."
