Women’s Golf Completes Day One of VyStar Gators Invitational

Gainesville, Fla. – The Mississippi State women's golf team returned to the course for their third event of the spring on Saturday. After 36 holes, State is in fourth shooting 12-over par (572).

In a loaded 15-team field that features 13 teams ranked in the top-50, the Bulldogs used strong top-20 individual performances from the trio of Hannah Levi, Ashley Gilliam, and Julia Lopez Ramirez.

"I feel like one of the best things that we did today was that we battled," head coach Charlie Ewing said. "I think we battled really hard and were a tough team today. Today we were able to score without necessarily playing the best golf. I think that is what the toughest teams do. Just being accepting of what happens and having a good response to it is what is going to define us."

Hannah Levi used a second-round even-par score of 72 to finish the day at 1-over (141) and tied for 6^th. Levi sunk the fifth most pars on the day with 25. Ashley Gilliam delivered 25 pars out of 36 holes to finish tied for 10^th with 2-over (142). Julia Lopez Ramirez finished tied for 15^th shooting 3-over (143).

Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs was the duo of Blair Stockett and Ana Pina Ortega. Stockett finished tied for 30^th with a score of 6-over (146). Pina Ortega finished tied for 65^th with 14-over (154).

The Bulldogs will return to the course Sunday morning for the final round from Gainesville at 8:30. The final round will be a shotgun start and State will be paired with Michigan and Michigan State.
