
Hayes Named WBCA Coaches’ All-America Regional Finalist

ATLANTA – Mississippi State women's basketball's Anastasia Hayes was named a region 2 finalist for the WBCA Coaches' All-America Team, the organization announced Thursday.
This marks the seventh straight season that Mississippi State has been represented on the WBCA All-Region 2 Team. A selection committee will determine the 10-member Coaches' All-America team from the 52 region finalists from across the country that will be announced on Thursday, March 31.
Hayes, who was named to the All-SEC Second Team, led the Bulldogs in scoring at 18.6 points per game while scoring in double-figures in 24 of the 25 games she played. Hayes scored at least 20-points in 12 different games, including 10 games during SEC play. On the year, she grabbed 113 rebounds (4.5 rpg), dished out 77 assists (3.1 apg), and had 35 steals (1.4 spg) while shooting 47% from the floor and 77% from the charity stripe.
She was named the SEC Player of the Week on Feb. 1 after helping lead Mississippi State to a pair of wins over Missouri and Texas A&M despite the team playing with just seven players. In those two games, Hayes averaged 23.0 points per game and 6.0 assists per game. Hayes was also named a Gillom Trophy Finalist this season, an honor given to the best women's basketball player in Mississippi.
Hayes scored a season-high 31 points in State's win over Vanderbilt on Jan. 9. Her 31 points were the fifth-most points scored in an SEC game this season. Her best game of the year came at Auburn on Feb. 3, when she scored 26-points and grabbed nine rebounds with four assists and two steals. She was 10-for-11 at the free throw line and shot 53% from the field.
In her career, Hayes has scored 1,976 points, grabbed 506 rebounds, and has dished out 446 career assists.
