Bulldogs Host 7th-Ranked Auburn In SEC Play

STARKVILLE - Mississippi States women's tennis team is set to host Southern Region rival Auburn at 4 p.m. CT at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
The 64th-ranked Bulldogs (8-7, 0-4 SEC) are coming off of a pair of home losses to then No. 11 Texas A&M and LSU.
The last action for No. 7 Auburn (12-2, 3-0 SEC) came last weekend when they defeated instate rival and then 19th-ranked Alabama in a 5-2 decision on the road. The Tigers have also defeated Vanderbilt and Kentucky in SEC action.
The Bulldogs have won two out of the past three matchups against the Tigers in Starkville.
At home this season, MSU has earned a stout 7-2 record. Also, when State wins the doubles point at home, they are 6-0.
Several Bulldogs already have familiarity with Auburn. Senior Tamara Racine faced then No. 45 Carolyn Ansari at the ITA Southern Region Fall Championships where Racine won in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Also at the ITA Southern Region Fall Championships, Emmanouela Antonaki defeated Adeline Flach 7-5, 7-5.
In singles play this past weekend, freshman Alessia Tagliente earned her first career SEC win over Rania Azziz of LSU 6-0, ret.
Also, Antonaki is leading the team having won six three-set matches as well as four tiebreakers in singles play.
Meanwhile, in doubles play, the duo of Chloé Cirotte and Tamara Racine were up 4-2 on the 3rd-ranked duo of Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova of Texas A&M before doubles play was suspended.
Magda Adaloglou has a chance to shake up the record books this weekend. She needs two wins in singles or doubles to tie former teammate and fellow Greek Anastasia Rentouli (2016-19) for fourth in combined career wins with 150.
