Women’s Tennis Sweeps Saturday Doubleheader
February 26, 2022 | Women's Tennis
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's women's tennis swept a doubleheader against Southern Miss and James Madison in impressive fashion on Saturday.
The 55th-ranked Bulldogs defeated Southern Miss 4-1 in the first match of the day then followed up with a 4-0 shutout of James Madison later in the afternoon.
The Bulldogs improved to 8-3 on the season and have now won 53 consecutive non-conference matches at home.
"We knew today was going to be a tough day," said associate head coach Sachin Kirtane. "I would say these two matches are probably like playing an SEC match. It is just mentally and physically taxing … I'm proud of the way the girls responded. We just went out there and went 'hey, we aren't letting you guys hang around and we are going to put you guys away,' I think that is what good teams do."
