Women’s Tennis Falls 4-3 to SMU

WACO, TEXAS – Mississippi State women's tennis dropped its second road match of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to SMU in a 4-3 decision.
The match was part of a round robin weekend played at the Hurd Tennis Center on the campus of Baylor University.
In doubles, the No. 24 duo Magda Adaloglou and Chloé Cirotte claimed a 6-4 win for the Bulldogs on Court 3 against Lexi Keberle and Lana Mavor to even things up after Jakie Nylander and Claudia Bartolo defeated the MSU tandem of Emmanouela Antonaki and Tamara Racine 6-1.
Alexandra Mikhailuk and Alessia Tagliente had a chance to take the doubles point for the Bulldogs with a tiebreaker, but fell just short to Nicole Petchey and Winslow Huth 7-6(7).
MSU (6-2) earned three victories in singles play. No. 72 Antonaki defeated Nylander in straight sets 6-3, 6-0. Antonaki is now tied with Linda Mattsson (1998-01) and Mariella Jimenez (1985-88) at sixth all-time in school history with 69 career singles wins.
No. 107 Adaloglou edged Keberle 7-5, 7-6(3) in singles while Cirotte downed Claudia Bartolome 6-1, 6-2. It was the 10th win in the last 11 singles matches for Cirotte dating back to the fall.
Ultimately in singles play Mikhailuk, Racine and Tagliente fell their SMU opponents. The Mustangs improved to 5-3 on the spring.

The Bulldogs are set to take on No. 24 Baylor on the road Sunday at 12 p.m.
