November 30, 2022 | Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mississippi State soccer's Macey Hodge was selected to the 2022 All-Southeast Region Second Team, announced on Tuesday by United Soccer Coaches.
The announcement marks the first All-Region honor of Hodge's career and also makes her the 13th MSU player to earn All-Region recognition. It's the second consecutive season that at least one Bulldog has earned second-team regional honors.
"Macey was a consistent standout player for us throughout the entire season," head coach James Armstrong said. "It is great to see other coaches in our region recognizing her efforts and giving her this deserved award."
On the field, the Douglasville, Georgia, native served as a team captain for the second straight season. The junior midfielder logged the second-most minutes for State during the 2022 campaign (1,926) and started in all 22 matches. Hodge also earned Second Team All-SEC honors and was named to the 2022 SEC Community Service team.
The Bulldogs are coming off their most historic season in program history after recording their first win in both the SEC and NCAA Tournaments, both in dramatic fashion with the game-winning goals scored in the 99th minute and 87th minute, respectively. State also earned its highest-ever ranking in program history, coming in at No. 21 in the United Soccer Coaches' poll after securing the program's first 3-0 start in conference play.
