No. 17 Men's Golf Set To Compete At Blessings Collegiate Invitational
October 02, 2022 | Men's Golf
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The No. 17 Mississippi State men's golf team will begin play at the third annual Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas Monday, Oct. 3. The Blessings Golf Club will play host to this unique three-day event, that will see State's men and women play side-by-side.
Joining the Bulldogs in the field of competition are California, UCF, Clemson, Kansas, Louisville, Ole Miss, No. 10 Texas A&M, UCLA and UNLV. MSU and Texas A&M are the only two schools on the men's side ranked in the Golfweek top 25.
The Blessings Golf Club features a par 72 7,700-yard course. The conditions feature a series of ravines throughout the front and back nine. The Clear Creek floodplain surrounds the course, as well as a 65-foot plateau that rises above the floodplain.
"This week is really going to challenge us mentally and physically," head coach Dusty Smith said. "The golf course is a true championship course that you must be disciplined on to be successful. Our guys have prepared very well. We need to compete to our standard and to have an elite mindset. This is our next step in our climb, and I am excited to learn and grow from the week."
The lineup for Mississippi State looks veteran-heavy, featuring graduate student Ford Clegg, freshman Garrett Endicott, senior Hunter Logan, graduate Ruan Pretorius and senior William Wann.
The Blessings Invitational is mixed format that includes 11 men's teams and 10 women's teams. The tournament will be broadcast on the Golf Channel on Oct. 3-5 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. CT. Mississippi State will tee off as a team at 8:45 a.m. CT from the No. 10 tee to begin play Monday.
