#FromStateToSundays: Week 6 Update
October 18, 2022 | Football
STARKVILLE – Week 6 was yet another example of superb play on the gridiron for former Mississippi State products on the next level.
Â
Defensive linemen Chris Jones and Montez Sweat each secured sacks for the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders respectively while Darius Slay snagged his third interception of the season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jones' sack on Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen came on a critical third down that helped protect three-point lead during the fourth quarter and forced a punt. It was Jones' third sack of the season and increased his career total to 52.5.
Â
It was also Sweat's third sack of the season – all of which have come in the past two games. His fourth quarter sack cost Chicago 13 yards and kept the Bears out of field goal range. He also recorded two tackles for loss, added a goal line stop and finished the contest with six total tackles and four quarterback hurries. All six of his tackles were labeled "stops" by Pro Football Focus, which are tackles that constitute a failure for the offense.
Jones and Sweat posted two of the NFL's top three overall defensive grades and pass rushing grades in Week 6 per PFF. Jones' 93.2 overall and 93.1 pass rush grade were second. Meanwhile, Sweat's 92.5 overall and 92.9 pass rush grades were both career highs.

Slay's interception was his third of the year and the 25th of his career. He was also credited with a pair of pass defenses and leads the NFL in that category with 125 since he joined the league in 2013.
Â
Slay was not the only former Bulldog cornerback to find success this past week. Cameron Dantzler started and played every snap in the Minnesota Vikings win and tallied five tackles while rookie Martin Emerson recorded his first career start and finished tied for third on the Cleveland Browns with six stops.

Â
Elgton Jenkins started at right tackle for the Green Bay Packers and played all 73 offensive snaps while fellow offensive lineman Tyre Phillips made his 2022 debut for the New York Giants.
