Dawgs Prepare for Final Regular-Season Race
October 13, 2022 | Cross Country
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mississippi State's cross country program concludes its regular season on Friday, Oct. 14, at the Crimson Classic hosted by the University of Alabama.
Â
The MSU women will toe the line at 9:20 a.m. CT at the Harry Pritchett Running Course.
Â
"This is our first opportunity to compete in a 3K run. So we need to take advantage of this competition as we prepare for the conference championship at the end of the month," head track and field coach Chris Woods said. "I'm excited to see how we respond to this stellar field as well as the additional distance that we will be running at this competition."
Â
State will see the same lineup that previously competed at the Live in Lou Classic, a race that saw five season-best times and a fourth-place finish as a team.
Â
Madison Jones leads the squad and is coming off a third-place time of 17:38.3. Teammate Savannah McIntosh is also coming off a season-best time of 18:30.9. Freshman Hunter Anderson looks to make her fourth appearance as a Bulldog and clocked her quickest collegiate run in only her second race of the season.
Â
Rounding out the lineup for MSU is Zoe Brito, Gracie Gibson, Hayley Ogle, Grace Ritchie and Mary Beth Woodward.
Â
Joining State and host school No. 6 Alabama are SEC foes Auburn, Georgia and South Carolina, along with No. 24 Florida State, Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Belmont, Clemson, FIU, Jackson State, LA Tech, Middle Tennessee, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Southern University and Wallace State.
