Women's Tennis Falls At No. 3 Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. - Mississippi State women's tennis dropped its first match of the season to No. 3 Georgia in a 4-1 decision on Saturday afternoon.
MSU secured the doubles point with standout performances from the 28th-ranked duo of Magda Adaloglou and Chloé Cirotte as well as senior tandem Emmanouela Antonaki and Tamara Racine.
Adaloglou and Cirotte won with ease over Mell Reasco and Morgan Coppoc 6-1 while Antonaki and Racine similarly dominated over Ania Hertel and Dasha Vidmanova 6-2. Each of those duos from State extended their winning streaks to six.
In singles play, No. 50 Antonaki and Cirotte each fell in three-set matches to their respective ranked opponents. Antonaki lost to No. 11 Reasco 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 while Cirotte was defeated by 78th-ranked Hertel 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.
Freshman Alessia Tagliente and junior Alexandra Mikhailuk had their matches suspended against ranked opponents.
No. 67 Adaloglou suffered her first loss since October, falling to No. 52 Lea Ma 6-4, 6-3.
In the No. 3 spot, Racine lost her matchup with Dasha Vidmanova, 6-4, 6-3.
MSU (4-1) will meet Georgia (2-0) again in conference play on March 6 in Athens.
Next up
State heads to New Orleans, La. on Feb. 6 to face Tulane at 1 p.m. in a Southern Region affair.
