
SEC Announces Complete Women's Basketball Conference Slate

STARKVILLE – The Southeastern Conference announced the women's basketball conference slate for the 2021-22 season Wednesday afternoon.
Beginning on Dec. 30, the SEC will play a 16-game schedule that features a 10-game single round-robin, a home-and-home with one permanent opponent and a home-and-home with two rotating opponents. Mississippi State's permanent opponent in Ole Miss while its rotating opponent changes annually.
The SEC television schedule and tip times will be announced at a later date.
"I'm really excited about our upcoming SEC schedule, especially our home games," head coach Nikki McCray-Penson said. "Besides the fact that we get to start conference play at home against Florida, we also get to host Texas A&M and LSU, among others. There are no off nights when you play in the Southeastern Conference, but we are looking forward to every challenge and can't wait to get the season underway."
For the second time since the 2019-20 season, the Bulldogs will open their conference slate at home against Florida (Dec. 30). After hosting the Gators on opening night, Mississippi State will hit the road for a pair of games versus Kentucky (Jan. 3) and Alabama (Jan. 6).
Following a home matchup against Vanderbilt (Jan. 9), Mississippi State and Ole Miss will renew their in-state rivalry (Jan. 16) for the first of two matchups in 2022. The Bulldogs have posted a 22-3 record against the Rebels dating back to the 2008-09 season.
Mississippi State will round out January with three home games and just a single road contest. The Bulldogs will take on Georgia (Jan. 20) before traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., to battle the Razorbacks (Jan. 23). Mississippi State will close out January at home against Missouri (Jan. 27) and Texas A&M (Jan. 30).
February will start with Mississippi State playing both Auburn (Feb. 3) and 2021 NCAA Final Four participant South Carolina (Feb. 6) on the road before returning to The Hump to host Ole Miss (Feb. 13) in the rivalries regular-season finale.
Mississippi State will host LSU (Feb. 17) before back-to-back road games against Missouri (Feb. 20) and Tennessee (Feb. 24). It will be the first time coach McCray-Penson has faced off against her alma mater after last season's matchup was postponed due to inclement weather. The Bulldogs will close out the 2021-22 regular season at home against Arkansas (Feb. 27).
The 2022 SEC Tournament will include all 14 teams, begin on Wednesday, March 2 and conclude on Sunday, March 6. All games will be played at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
