Five Bulldogs Picked For ITA Preseason Rankings

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's men's tennis team was well represented in the International Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Preseason Rankings that were released on Tuesday.

Graduate Florian Broska (27), sophomore Nemanja Malesevic (36), junior Davide Tortora (54) and sophomore Alberto Colas (92) are all ranked among the top 100 collegiate players in the country. It is a career-best ranking for Broska, Malesevic and Colas.

The veteran doubles team of Broska and senior Gregor Ramskogler also received a career-best ranking at No. 6 nationally. Broska and Ramskogler finished last spring ranked 14th as a doubles tandem after posting a 12-8 record together.

Broska finished the 2021 singles slate ranked at No. 40 after reaching the second round of the NCAA Championships in May. The 5-foot-10 German concluded the 2021 campaign with a 20-16 overall record and was a second team All-SEC selection.

Malesevic was selected as the ITA Southern Region Rookie of the Year and an SEC All-Freshman last season after posting a 21-11 overall record and a 7-5 mark inside the conference. His previous career-best ranking was 53rd.

Tortora, who had his previous best ranking at 49th in early April, went 13-7 in 2021 while Colas cracked the top 100 for the first time after finishing the spring ranked 121st with a 20-14 record.

Players from MSU are scheduled to compete in up to 10 events this fall starting with the Fayetteville 15K beginning on Sept. 18.
