Cirotte Completes Comeback To Close Debbie Southern Fall Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Mississippi State women's tennis picked up af singles win on the final day of the Debbie Southern Fall Classic on Sunday.

After dropping her first set 5-7, Chloé Cirotte rallied back to win the final two sets 6-2, 6-1 over Furman's Ellie Schulson on her home court. It was Cirotte's second singles victory at the event having defeated North Carolina's Kacie Harvey in straight sets on Friday.

"Today it was Chloe earning another hard-earned singles win in three sets," said MSU head coach Daryl Greenan. " She played more competitive matches than anyone on the team this summer and it showed. I look forward to seeing our progress through the fall tournament season."

Cirotte was also part of an upset doubles win on Friday as she and her partner Magda Adaloglou took down the eighth-ranked team of Brooke Killingsworth and Anna Brylin of Wake Forest.

After going undefeated in singles play on the first two days, Marta Falceto fell in the Flight 10 Finals against Monika Dedaj of Georgia Tech 7-5, 6-3.

MSU posted an 4-14 record in singles matches during the three-day tournament and had a 2-7 record in doubles action.

"We knew this was going to be a challenging event," Greenan said. "In the end, we lost more matches than we won but it gave the coaches and everyone on our team a measure of where we are at this point in the season. The effort was there, but in most cases we just need more match play. We had some nice highlights including Emma (Antonaki's) top 50 ranked win in singles and Magda and Chloe's top 10 doubles win."

The Bulldogs hit the courts again for individual play on Oct. 4 for the ITA All-American in Charleston, South Carolina and the ITF W15 in Hilton Head, South Carolina the same day.
