Ewing Releases Fall Schedule
August 13, 2021 | Women's Golf
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's women's golf program will compete five times this fall in five different states and close the fall season by hosting its annual tournament, The Ally.
Â
MSU opens the season at the Sam Golden Invitational in Denton, Texas, on Sept. 13-14. It will be the Bulldogs first trip to the tournament hosted by North Texas.
Â
The following weekend sees the Bulldogs return to the Mason Rudolph Championship where they competed in 2019, finishing sixth. State makes the trip to Vanderbilt's home course in Franklin, Tennessee, on Sept. 24-26.
Â
"I am very excited with how our fall schedule turned out," head coach Charlie Ewing said. "It's going to be very challenging, and we are going to see many of the top teams in the country. That's always what you're looking for in a schedule. I'm thrilled that we will get to see different parts of the country and challenge ourselves on various types of courses."
Â
The Bulldogs will be busy in October with three tournaments. The first sees them head to Chicago for Northwestern's Windy City Collegiate Classic on Oct. 4-5. On Oct. 15-17, MSU travels to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to play in the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational hosted by North Carolina.
Â
The Bulldogs return to Old Waverly Golf Club for the The Ally on Oct. 25-27 to close out the fall. In 2018 and 2019, State produced second-place showings at the Magnolia Invitational on the same course.
Â
"We feel like we have a deep roster this year and a group that can handle a schedule like this very well," Ewing added. "We will set high goals for ourselves to compete at a very high level but also understand that each event is a unique opportunity of its own in the season-long mission to be our best come the end of the year."
Â
The spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
