
No. 16 Bulldogs Go Under Par In Second Round Of SEC Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. – Mississippi State women's golf went under par in the second round of the SEC Championship and sit in a tie for eighth at 1-under par entering the final round of stroke play on Sunday.
Avery Weed shot her second consecutive round under par, as she finished the day 2-under, pushing her two-day total to 6-under par. Weed sits two strokes off the individual lead and is tied for second entering the final round of action, where the SEC's individual title will be awarded.
An eagle on the par-five fifth helped Moa Stridh shoot her ninth par or better round of the season, as she finished 1-under par on Saturday. Stridh jumped inside of the top 20 and sits T18 at 1-under par entering the final round of action.
Ines Belchior and Samantha Whateley concluded the round 1-over par. After making the turn 3-over, Belchior would start the back nine with three consecutive birdies, and four over her first five holes to regain momentum. Whateley carded a birdie on hole 14 to move to 1-over, and was able to finish her day with pars.
The Bulldogs enter the final round tied with Tennessee and Auburn for eighth place at 1-under and are two strokes behind seventh-place Texas A&M. State will look to gain ground on Sunday to be among the top eight teams to advance to the match play portion of the event, which begins on Monday.
