Several players took to the pitch this summer before returning to Starkville.
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State soccer had several players return to the pitch this summer to play for club teams in their hometowns or in the state.Â
Â
Maddy Anderson played and started for the AHFC Royals in Houston, Texas this summer. She and her team played eight games, winning all eight of the slate. Her offense scored 41 goals and only conceded one on a penalty kick. They won the Red River Conference Southern Division at the conclusion of play.

Niah Johnson, Monigo Karnley and Olivia Simpson all played for Pensacola FC. The club only played four matches and conceded only one goal. All three received starting nods for each game. Johnson at midfield, Karnely at center forward, and Simpson at outside back. Karnley scored six goals and had six assists.Â
Â
Ky Burroughs and Esmeralda Figueroa played for the Mississippi Blues this summer. Both played in all their matches and started all of them as well. Figueroa tallied one goal to her name.

Marcella Cash played for the Dayton Dutch Lions and played in seven matches.
Â
Hannah Telleysh played with the Cleremont Kickz for three games, keeping up with her ball skills and fitness. She played with some of her high school teammates in the club.

For the newcomers, transfer Gwen Mummert played with Rochester United FC in Minnesota. She started in seven matches, playing all 90 minutes for five of them. Mummert captained her squad and produced two goals and assisted four.Â

Hannah Johnson trained with a WPSL team this summer in Clay County, Florida.
Â
The Bulldogs schedule was released on July 13, and will play a total of 10 regular-season matches on their home turf in Starkville. Their first exhibition match of the season is at home on August 10 against UAB. Kick is set for 6 p.m.
