Anderson, D’Aloise – Ultimate Teammates

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mississippi State soccer's Maddy Anderson and Alyssa D'Aloise were named recipients of the College Player Award of Distinction by United Soccer Coaches, the association announced June 9.
"We are so proud of Maddy and Alyssa for getting this deserved recognition," said head coach James Armstrong. "Both players are very important to the dynamics of this team."
The award is new, established in the spring of 2021 by USC. There were 184 men and 325 women designated as recipients, with 85 of the women being NCAA Division I student-athletes.
Mississippi State was one of just three Southeastern Conference schools who had players receive this distinction. LSU's Courtney Henderson and Texas A&M's Macie Kolb were also named.
The Award of Distinction is given to players who have achieved quality performances on the pitch, represented the higher ideals of team leadership, exhibited quality character attributes including sportsmanship and respect, and made other significant contributions to the benefit of the program and the community.
Anderson is an involved member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) on campus, and is a vocal, encouraging member of the squad. Just a freshman, she played almost every match of the 2020 season in goal. Her bravery and leadership didn't go unnoticed, and neither did her dominating presence on the pitch. She earned two weekly awards for her performances, and at the end of the fall season she was the lone Bulldog to be named First Team All-SEC.
D'Aloise transferred to Mississippi State for her junior season, coming from Texas Tech. In rare fashion, she was named one of three captains by her peers in her first season with the Bulldogs. From the start, she was a leader for the squad, bringing energy and grit in her game. She was injured early in the fall season but battled through and bounced back to play again in the spring.
