Three Advance, Henderson Amazes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mississippi State track and field had three advance to the NCAA Championships in Oregon on the final day for the men at the East Region Prelims.
Hurdler Jesse Henderson never ceases to amaze. For the third time this season, he broke the 110m hurdle record. This time, it qualified him for the championships. He came in first in his heat and came in second overall with the record-breaking 13.38 wind-aided time.
Keshun Byrd jumped into the No. 5 spot all-time at State in the triple jump with his personal-best 16.05m jump to qualify for Eugene. He came in sixth out of the entire field.
The 4x100m relay lineup of Shamar Rose, Keldrick Edwards, Okheme Moore and Cameron Crumpqualified for the Championships with a 10th-place finish with a season-best time of 39.38.
The trio of 800m men narrowly missed the chance to go to Eugene, with Leon Clarke finishing in 13th at 1:49.17. Navasky Anderson finished in 15th at 1:49.58, while Gabriel Moronta came in 20th at 1:51.19.
The 4x400m relay experienced a mishap during the second heat, which was the heat MSU was in. In the middle of the second heat, the stadium lights at Jax Track shut off, leaving the area dark. After review, it was decided that the second heat would re-race on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT.
After two days of men's competition and one day of women's, a total of eight Bulldogs are headed to Oregon so far.

Day Four – Women
There are nine opportunities to advance to Oregon for the Bulldog women on the final day of the NCAA East Region Prelims.
The day starts off with the high jump at noon with Asia Poe. At 12:30 p.m., Jhordyn Stallworth competes in the discus. Rounding out the field events are Alexis Farley and Amy Warren competing in the triple jump beginning at 2:15 p.m.
The track events start off with the 4x100m relay at 4:30 p.m. In the 3000m steeple at 5:10 p.m. are Sylvia Russell and Sydney Steely. Rosealee Cooper will compete in the 100m hurdles at 5:45 p.m. to finish off the day for the Bulldogs.
