State Completes First Round At Cle Elum Regional

CLE ELUM, Wash. – Mississippi State's men's golf team shot a 299 in the first round of NCAA Tournament play at the Cle Elum Regional on Monday.

Ford Clegg sits in a tie for 15^th after 18 holes. He carded a 1-under 70 with the help of four birdies on the day, but he was hampered by a triple bogey on Hole 4. The leaders of the field sit at 5-under, and third place is at 4-under.

"I'm really proud of Ford and how he handled the conditions and adversity today," head coach Dusty Smith said. "There is still a lot of golf left and a lot to play for. Golf is hard at the moment for us. We just need to fight our way out of it."

Hunter Logan and William Wann each picked up a pair of birdies on the day. Logan shot a 74, and Wann carded a 76.

MSU returns to the course at 11:50 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning. The Bulldogs will be paired with golfers from Sacramento State and the field's individuals on Hole 1.
