Day Two of Crimson Tide Invite Complete

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Even with some shakeups in scheduling, the Bulldogs had a successful second day of the Crimson Tide Invitational on Friday.

The day started off with the completion of the heptathlon which contained three Bulldogs in the competition, Shayla Broughton, Asia Poe and Aley Woodberry. Broughton finished highest of the three, coming in fourth, Woodberry right behind in fifth, and Poe coming in seventh.

Here are how the last three events of the heptathlon broke down: in the long jump, Broughton took the win with a personal-best 6.02m jump, with Poe coming in third and Woodberry in fifth with a new personal best at 5.68m. The javelin saw Woodberry come in sixth, Broughton in 10th and Poe fouling. To round out the seven events was the 800m, with Poe coming in second in a new best, Woodberry in seventh and Broughton in 11th.

In the women's 1500m, all the Bulldogs finished in the top-50. Breja Hooks led the pack of Bulldogs, finishing in 25th. Ashley Melcherts was just behind in 26th, with Silvia De La Pena Garibay in 32nd and Zoe Brito in 49th. Garibay and Hooks both ran to personal-bests.

On the men's side, Kenya Small came in 29th with a personal best at 3:59.24.Â

Day Three – Saturday
The final day of the Crimson Tide Invitational kicks off for the Bulldogs with the women's and men's 5000m at 11 and 11:30 a.m. followed by the men's discus throw at noon.

Following are the men's and women's 100 and 110m hurdles at 1:20 and 1:35 p.m., with the women's 400m after at 2:00 p.m. The women's pole vault was moved up to 2 p.m., and the women's javelin and high jump will happen at 2:30 and 2:50 p.m.

The women's and men's 800m come at 3:25 and 3:45 p.m., with the women's and men's long jump moving to 4 and 4:30 p.m. The running events come to an end with the men's 4x400m relay at 4:10 p.m.

With a shakeup in the schedule, the men's hammer was moved from Friday to Saturday evening, set to follow the women's hammer which begins at 7 p.m.
