Levi Leads Bulldogs After Two Rounds At LSU Tiger Golf Classic
April 06, 2021 | Women's Golf
BATON ROUGE, La. - Mississippi State women's golf sits tied for fourth place after 36 holes at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. The Bulldogs shot an even team score of 288 to start off the day before ending 9-over par heading into the final round on Wednesday.
Â
Hannah Levi is tied for second place after firing off back-to-back under-par rounds at The University Club. The redshirt junior shot a 2-under (70) first round followed by a 1-under (71) second round. She posted six birdies on the day.
Â
"I felt relaxed on the course today and was very diligent in my process," Levi said. "I hit a lot of really good shots and capitalized on some huge opportunities. I'm excited and confident about tomorrow, but the most important thing for me will be sticking to that process. If I can do that, then I will walk off the golf course pleased with myself."
Â
Tied for 29th, graduate Clara Moyano shot a strong 2-under par (70) first round after rolling in five birdies on the front nine and six total. Following the second round, Moyano is 5-over par for the day.
Â
Abbey Daniel sits tied for 43rd heading into final round after shooting 7-over (151) in both rounds combined. Daniel's 1-over par (73) second round was consistent, carding three birdies to climb the leaderboard. Not far behind, sophomore Ashley Gilliam and senior Blair Stockett are tied for 52nd place after shooting 8-over (152) for the day.
Â
Playing in the individual slot, junior Lauren Miller is tied for 63rd place as she is 11-over par (155) after the second round. Miller rolled in five birdies for the day, as she made her spring season debut.
Â
"Today was a true team day," MSU head coach Charlie Ewing said. "Everybody stepped up big in a variety of different ways. It was the type of day that I was really hoping to see from this team. Not entirely from a scoring standpoint, but from a mentality and toughness standpoint. We had our fair share of ups and downs, but all of our players were tough and handled the day well. We knew that's how we had to handle it in order to be successful and I thought we did a good job of that. Nothing changes tomorrow, we will go out with the same goals and ultimately that will dictate how we perform."
Â
State will compete in the final round of the event beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT in a shotgun start. MSU will be accompanied by Arkansas and Texas A&M.
