Logan Matches Low-Round Ties For Tenth At SEC Championship
April 23, 2021 | Men's Golf
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Mississippi State men's golf completed the SEC Championship on Friday with a three-day total of 879.Â
Â
Hunter Logan jumped 25 places on Friday to tie for 10th with Auburn's No. 28 Andrew Kozan. The sophomore birdied his first hole of the day and three more before teeing off the front nine where he carded two.
Â
Ford Clegg climbed 17 places to finish stroke play tied for 44th. He tallied five birdies for the day carding a 1-under 69. Senior Austin Fulton completed the day tied for 51st with a 74.
Â
"I'm really proud of our response today," head coach Dusty Smith said. "Hunter and Ford did a good job getting us some under-par rounds. Hunter played solid all week, and it's nice to see him take some good steps forward."
Â
Freshman Loïc Ettlin started the final round on better footing putting for birdie on Holes 10, 11 and 5.
Â
"This was a tough week for our guys," Smith said. "We did not perform the way we wanted to. We still control the ending of our story. I challenged all of us to take a close look in the mirror and to be honest about this past performance. That is the only way we can learn and grow from this. Our toughness and discipline are going to be a the focus going forward. We have to get more comfortable in uncomfortable situations and that starts in our preparation."
Â
The Bulldogs will await their postseason fate. NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 17-19.Â
