Jackson Selected For Naismith Trophy Midseason Team

ATLANTA – Mississippi State's Rickea Jackson continued to earn praise for her play this season, being tabbed to the 2021 Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Tuesday.
Last week, Jackson earned a spot on the Wooden Award Late Season watch list and was tabbed a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award, given to the nation's top small forward. She is one of eight SEC players on the list.
The sophomore forward leads the team in scoring with 15.8 points per game on 41-percent shooting. Jackson owns 11 double-digit scoring efforts this season, highlighted by the second 30-point performance of her career in a win against Troy. She is also averaging 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. She posted multiple assists in seven games on the year.
In an effort to become a more effective scorer from beyond the arc, Jackson has already eclipsed her total threes made from last year (13) through eight games this season (17). She leads the Bulldogs in 3-pointers made this year. In her performance against Troy, she finished with a career-high six threes and helped State post an MSU-record 18 treys in the contest.
Competition for the Naismith Trophy will be narrowed down to 10 national semifinalists on March 2, 2021, and four finalists will be named on March 19, 2021. The winner of the 2021 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy for Women's Player of the Year will be announced on April 3, 2021.
