Adaloglou, Cirotte Win Draws At John Cade Invitational
November 07, 2021 | Women's Tennis
STARKVILLE - Mississippi State's women's tennis team closed out the John Cade Invitational with three solid singles wins, including two women winning their respective draws.
Magda Adaloglou was down 2-5 in the first set against Kylie Bitchev of Georgia Tech, but went on to win 11 of the next 13 points to emerge victorious 7-5, 6-2.
"This was a great weekend for all of us," said Adaloglou. "It builds [our] confidence. We have a very good team and we are capable of doing good things. From the beginning of the fall, each one of us has gotten better."
With her six victories this weekend, Adaloglou moved into fifth place all-time in total victories at Mississippi State with 132 career victories.
One court over, Chloé Cirotte dropped her first set against Ole Miss' Rachel Krzyzak. However, Cirotte caught fire to win the next two to secure a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 win.
"I'm happy with how I did," Cirotte said. "There is a lot of work behind this. I put all my focus and belief into work I do every single day with the team…I won the last match of the fall. This is my first fall since last year I couldn't play. I am happy about that."
Both Adaloglou and Cirotte won their respective draws in singles play.
In the Rula Pavilion, Alexandra Mikhailuk battled Andrea Burguete Beltran from Denver and won in a back-and-forth three-set affair 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
No. 22 Emmanouela Antonaki fought hard, but fell in a close three-set match against Memphis' Camila Romero 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. However, with her four wins this weekend, Antonaki moved into an eighth-place in total victories at MSU with 119.
In the championship of her draw, Tamara Racine was defeated by Mahak Jain of Georgia Tech 7-5, 6-1.
"Having played the entire fall and working really hard in the gym and on the court, it is nice to see things come together for all of my teammates," said Mikhailuk, "I'm really proud of them."
