
PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball Closes Out Opening Week vs Alcorn State Sunday

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State will conclude its busy opening week with its third game in six days when they host Alcorn State on Sunday. The Bulldogs and Lady Braves will tip-off at 5 p.m. inside the Humphrey Coliseum.

First Double-Double
• JerKaila Jordan, a sophomore from New Orleans, recorded the first double-double of her career on Friday against South Dakota State.
• The former 5-star recruit scored 17-points with 11 rebounds in just 26 minutes of action. Jordan also added two steals, two blocked shots and a assist to her stat line.
• Through two games, Jordan is averaging 16 points and eight rebounds per contest.
Scoring Trio
• Three Bulldogs are averaging double-digit points through the first two games. Rickea Jackson leads the team averaging 24.5 points while Jordan is averaging 16.0 points and Anastasia Hayes 15.5 points per game
• Jackson followed up her impressive 26 point opening night performance with 23 against SDSU.
• Hayes was efficient from the floor going 5-for-8 and 1-for-1 from three.
• The trio also got it done from the charity stripe, combining to go 12-for-16.
Know Your Foe
• Alcorn State is coached by Nate Kilbert who is in his second season at Alcorn State.
• The Lady Braves opened their season on Nov. 9 in Milwaukee, Wisc., falling to Marquette96-35.
• Last season, Alcorn State finished 7-13.
• This will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs. MSU and Alcorn State last met on Nov. 17, 2011, a game that Mississippi State won 66-48.

Following its Sunday contest against Alcorn State, Mississippi State will have a week off before hosting Bethune-Cookman on Monday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs will spend the Thanksgiving holiday in Daytona Beach where they will take on Dayton (Nov. 25) and No. 16/10 Michigan (Nov. 27).
