Mississippi State Golf Teams to Compete in Televised Conference Premier

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State men's and women's golf programs will open their 2020-21 seasons in a televised conference event slated for Oct. 5-7 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the GOLF Channel announced Tuesday (Sept. 1).
GOLF Channel will provide live coverage of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in the first of six televised events in the 2020-21 college golf season, as well as news and digital coverage. Both men's and women's teams from each SEC program will play in the 54-hole event.

MSU men's golf will return all ten student-athletes from its 2019-20 rosters following the abbreviated season which concluded with a runner-up finish at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate in March. Garrett Johnson, who led the team with a 70.81 stroke average in his shortened senior campaign, announced his return to the team in April via the NCAA's Extension-of-Eligibility waiver. The "Golf Dawgs" also added three freshmen in Harrison Davis, Loïc Ettlin and Pedro Cruz Silva.
Behind an experienced roster, the women's golf team will look to pick up where it left off in the spring. The Bulldogs ended the year ranked 21st in the country and were second in the SEC in scoring with an average team score of 286.50. All-American Ashley Gilliam is back after a freshman campaign that saw her set the program record for season stroke average (70.61) as well as the freshman records for rounds of par or better (13) and rounds in the 60s (5).
