State Wraps Up Competition at SEC Indoor Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Mississippi State track and field posted four personal bests on Saturday to conclude competition at the 2020 SEC Indoor Championships.

Jesse Henderson wrapped up the heptathlon in the 60m hurdles, 1000m and pole vault on Saturday. Henderson recorded personal bests in three of the seven events en route to 4,221 points, the highest mark of his career in the heptathlon. The sophomore posted the team's highest finish on Saturday as he placed second in the men's 60m hurdles, before improving his personal best in pole vault by 1.0 meter.

In the evening, Henderson earned an eighth-place finish and picked up one point for the Bulldog men in the 60m hurdles final after crossing the line in 8.01.

Dejon Devroe and Charlotte Cayton-Smith made appearances in the men's and women's 800m final, respectively. Cayton-Smith posted a season-best time of 2:07.40 to grab fifth place and four points for the State women, while Devroe finished eighth seventh in 1:51.56 to garner two points for the men.

Tiffaney Johnson and Alicia Viveros both shattered their career bests in the women's weight throw. Johnson improved her No. 3 mark in school history as she threw 18.63m (61-1.5) to conclude her weight throw career, while Viveros came 0.4m shy from cracking MSU's all-time top 5. Under the guidance of April Thomas, Johnson has recorded three marks within the top 5 this season and has added nearly two meters to her personal best. Viveros has bettered her personal-best every time she's competed in the weight throw this indoor season.

To cap off the 2020 SEC Indoor Championships, San'Toria Harris, Cayton-Smith, Faith Gilbert and Destini Pickens finished the women's 4x400m relay in 3:42.34, a mark that was the best by a women's relay team this season.
