Sophomore Ford Clegg Receives Golfer of the Month Honors

STARKVILLE – Ben Hogan Trophy Award Foundation announced on Friday that Ford Clegg has been recognized as the Ben Hogan Award November Golfer of the Month.

Clegg is currently ranked No. 85 according to GolfWeek Amateur Rankings and No. 208 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

"It is an honor to be recognized and to be listed among many great players with so much success in both college and the PGA Tour," the recipient said. "Thank you to the members of the Bulldog family who voted and supported me in receiving this award. It would not be possible without your support."

In his final performance at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, Clegg shot impressive rounds of 66-63-69 to share the title with Ole Miss's Jackson Suber. He collected a school-record tying 54-hole total of 198 (-15), first set by Alex Rocha (1999-2000) then matched by Ben Wood (2014-15). He also tied Peng Pichaikool's low-round 63. The win marked the sophomore's second collegiate victory after his win at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational in October of 2019.

"We are very proud of Ford," head coach Dusty Smith said. "He has put a lot of work into his game and he is a big part of our team. He is extremely deserving of this honor based on his strong performance this semester."

The award's voters included 12 members of the Hogan Trophy Award Foundation and the Friends of Golf, plus three social media fan votes. The top vote getter on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram each received one vote, totaling 15 votes. Results from all collegiate, amateur and professional events were considered for the award.
